Bardahl No Smoke – The Best Budget Stop Smoke Additive


Bardahl 2116 No Smoke is very thick oil additive (formula is polymer-based), designed for improving the crankcase on old vehicles by reducing the oil burn, engine smoke, and emission.
Bardhal claims that, as you use the engine, its piston rings and cylinder walls wear out. Metal surface either bends or cracks, and leaves corridors through which the engine oil starts leaking.
Bardahl 2116 No Smoke will increase oil’s viscosity; the oil will be too dense to exit through the pores. And even if the oil leaks, it will now be able to endure high-temperature environments (due to the increased elasticity). This additive also improves engine’s performance, but only slightly.
Note that you have to add this additive every time you change the oil, and add it to the engine crankcase (only). It is also worth mentioning that the Bardahl 2116 No Smoke is cooperative with catalytic converters.

Rislone 4416-6PK – Best Additive For Protecting Piston


Rislone 4416-6PK smoke repair additive is engineered to reduce emission, reduce oil burning, as well as to stop plug fouling (which occurs as a consequence of numerous blow-bys. Rislone 4416-6PK improves the oil’s viscosity, makes it more ticker and flexible.

STP 65930 Smoke Treatment – Best Product For Minor Oil Issues


STP 65930 is a very inexpensive engine oil additive, arriving in 14.5 oz bottle. While it isn’t the most effective product on our list, STP 65930 Smoke Treatment does seem to reduce (sometimes stop) oil consumption, but doesn’t always stop smoke.
Like others, this additive fluid contains additives the stabilize and stimulate the engine. It creates a thick cushion of oil between the engine’s parts, thus reducing the friction and heat. However, some claim that STP 65930 Smoke Treatment doesn’t deliver everything it promises.
In short, STP 65930 Smoke Treatment does work as other quality oil additives to stop smoke, but not for a very long time. As a consequence of that, you will have to use it permanently, every time you change the oil. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that this additive will stop (blue or white) smoke.
We believe that the STP 65930 Smoke Treatment should be used only for minor engine oil issues. It should only be used in light- duty and low-pressure engines, not in machinery and other heavy-duty vehicles.
The good thing is that this fluid is very inexpensive and that it won’t damage your engine. It doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals, works with all engine types, as with all oil types.

Heat Resistance
Modern engines produce a lot more heat than the old ones. In fact, that is an entirely different product category that deals with overheating issues (cooling additives). But, stop smoke additives also have something to say about heat resistance.
When the engine operates under extreme pressure, it produces a lot of friction, and therefore a lot of heat. Oil’s lubrication does help for a while, but oil eventually loses its elasticity.
When stop smoke additives are added, the engine oil regains some of its original qualities, mainly elasticity. Also, it covers the engine with a protective layer; the more heat-resistant the formula is, the more protective will it give you. Engine Declogging
